Waiting on Wednesday (7)

"Waiting on Wednesday"  is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week's WoW is . . .

This Is Not A Test  by Courtney Summers

It’s the end of the world. Six students have taken cover in Cortege High but shelter is little comfort when the dead outside won’t stop pounding on the doors. One bite is all it takes to kill a person and bring them back as a monstrous version of their former self. To Sloane Price, that doesn’t sound so bad. Six months ago, her world collapsed and since then, she’s failed to find a reason to keep going. Now seems like the perfect time to give up. As Sloane eagerly waits for the barricades to fall, she’s forced to witness the apocalypse through the eyes of five people who actually wantto live. But as the days crawl by, the motivations for survival change in startling ways and soon the group’s fate is determined less and less by what’s happening outside and more and more by the unpredictable and violent bids for life—and death—inside. When everything is gone, what do you hold on to?

I could just imagine this book being the Old Spice Guy.  "Hello, readers.   Look at your book. Now back to me.  Now back at your book.  Now back to me.  Sadly, it isn't me, but if it stopped being about hot boys and started being a zombie apocalypse written by Courtney Summers, it could look like me.  Look down, back up, where are you?  You're on a blog post with the book your book could look like.  What's in your hand? Back at me.  I have it, it's a preorder of that book that won't come out until June.  Look again, that preorder is now a beautiful, shining paperback.  Anything is simple when your book looks like This Is Not a Test.

Also: I have a WoW (obvs. not as funny as yours, but you know..).

Lexie

Best. Pop-Culture. Reference. Ever.

Lexie

The Old Spice Guy is and will always be applicable to any situation.

Nicole

Who is the Old Spice Guy (if you'll pardon my ignorance, Lexie :P I have no knowledge of American pop culture whatsoever.)?

Oh, great pick, by the way! I was kind of put off this book by a couple of negative reviews, but I think I'll wait and see what happens when it's really released.

No worries! Haha, here's the link:

Personally, the few of my friends who've read it have been in love with it, so I'm super excited to read it. Plus. It's Courtney Summers.
